How do you handle the troubles and storms in YOUR life? How do you feel knowing YOU can go to God and ask Him for help? What peace do YOU feel?
As I was driving to work this morning, I noticed a warning light illuminate on the dash of my car. Immediately I was taken back because I always take care of my car and get it in for regular maintenance. I stopped, prayed, and asked God to watch over me and get me to work without my car breaking down.
Now I know this sounds like a minor trouble but it reminded me of a time when I would have handled something like this very differently. There was a time when I would have gone straight to anger. I would have started throwing a fit over having a dumpy old car…
“Why is this happening to me? It’s probably going to cost me a fortune.”
Or I would have figured out a way for it to be someone else’s fault. I would have angered myself into a bad mood and made everyone else around miserable.
Now I realize there are far more serious troubles and storms than car problems but no matter what level of storm we are facing, let our first response be to take it to God. Let’s lift the problem up to Him and let Him take care of it. Let go and let God. I believe that if we take the time to talk to Him about what is going on in our lives, He is faithful and will provide the peace to withstand anything.
I have come a long way from allowing my troubles to anger me this way. Trust me, I have been through MANY storms. I have had to humble myself and let God help me. He has changed me. I still have a long way to go but, praise God I am not where I used to be!
When I begin to jump to anger and blame but right away I hear God say to me “what is this accomplishing?” NOTHING. God is saying “He’s got my back” and he has yours too if you let Him. There is a real peace knowing that God is in control. I am so thankful that we can go to God for any troubles or storms in life, big or small. He cares about them all!
